On October 28, Hau Giang People's Committee issued an official dispatch on enhancing food poisoning prevention in the province.
According to the official dispatch, the Chairman of Hau Giang People's Committee assigned the Department of Health to organize training and implement guidance on handling of food poisoning cases for districts; timely correct limitations and inadequacies (if any); regularly urge and inspect the readiness and preparation of sufficient human resources and facilities for the response and prevention of food poisoning.
Strengthening the supervision of food safety hazards and sending for testing for products self - declared in the province, products being circulated in the locality; information and warning of risks of food poisoning caused by microorganisms, natural toxins, etc.; strengthening the inspection of compliance with the law on food safety, paying attention to strengthening the direction of irregular inspection, especially in high - risk areas, strictly handling violations of food safety as prescribed.

The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Department of Industry and Trade shall cooperate with the Department of Health and relevant units in investigating the causes; tracing the origin and handling the food causing poisoning (if any); strengthening the inspection, examination and irregular inspection of the compliance with regulations on food safety conditions for food production and trading establishments in the area; strictly handling violations, suspending the operation of the establishments that do not ensure food safety, recalling and handling unsafe food, food at risk of causing poisoning.
The Chairman of the provincial People's Committee also assigned the provincial Public Security to strengthen the fight and prevention of crimes and violations of the law in food production and trading; to step up the criminal handling of organizations and individuals committing serious violations, especially activities of smuggling, producing, storing and trading in fake and poor - quality food.
At the district, town and city level, Chairpersons of People's Committees shall direct Health Centres to supervise food safety hazards at food services in the areas under their management. Strengthen the responsibility of commune authorities in grasping the situation, inspecting and handling violations of food safety regulations for organizations and individuals producing and trading food, especially trading food and street food services; timely handle and provide information on incidents, risks and food poisoning cases in the areas under their management.
