Pursuant to Decision No. 2831/QD-BNN-KTHT dated August 14, 2024 of the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) on approving the Plan to organize the Vietnam Handicraft Products Competition in 2024 in conjunction with the Exhibition "Colors of cultural heritage, nature and traditional Vietnamese handicraft products", from November 22 to 26, 2024, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in coordination with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (VHTTDL) organized the Vietnam Handicraft Products Competition in 2024 in Nghe An province.
On the morning of October 9, speaking to the press about this event, Mr. Le Duc Thinh - Director of the Department of Economic Cooperation (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development) - emphasized: Vietnam has many professions: Jewelry, embroidery, knitting, metalworking... integrating multiple values, imbued with identity and a close blend between cultural and rural categories.
Mr. Thinh also said that the contest aims to honor, inspire and encourage authors to promote creative ideas to create new handicraft products that are both technical, aesthetic, highly applicable and meet the criteria for sustainable development in the period of international integration.
Create an environment for exchange, sharing of experiences and knowledge on production and trading of handicrafts; Through the contest, contribute to preserving and promoting the national cultural identity of traditional occupations, craft villages, traditional craft villages...
"We advise many projects on preserving craft villages, Vietnamese culture, preserving and developing rural industries... The 2024 contest is the fourth contest. This is not only a contest, but also a festival about craft villages with activities: Displaying documents; photos introducing "Historical - cultural relics, scenic spots of Vietnam"; characteristics of cultural heritage of Vietnamese ethnic groups; exhibition "Uncle Ho's poems on calligraphy lotus"; Vietnamese tea culture space at the Nghe An Provincial Cultural Center Exhibition House..." - Mr. Thinh informed.
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoang Yen - Deputy Director of the Department of Economic Cooperation, all organizations and individuals regardless of profession, age, gender; have full civil capacity; have the ability to create and produce handicraft products in accordance with the regulations (except for members of the Organizing Committee and the Jury) can participate.
Contest products are handicraft products belonging to 5 groups that meet the criteria according to the issued Contest Regulations, including: Ceramic and glass group; weaving, embroidery, knitting, crochet group; rattan, bamboo, natural leaves group; stone, wood art, lacquer, mother-of-pearl inlay group; other groups (horns, metals, flowers, paintings, ...).
The Organizing Committee will accept entries from October 28, 2024 to November 1, 2024 at the Vietnam Cultural and Art Exhibition Center (No. 2 Hoa Lu, Le Dai Hanh Ward, Hai Ba Trung District, Hanoi).
The award structure of 5 product groups includes 5 first prizes, 10 second prizes, 15 third prizes, and 15 consolation prizes.
