Hue strengthens protection of wildlife during Vu Lan holiday

HUE - Hue City strengthens inspection and handling of violations, releasing many wild animals back into the wild during the 2026 Vu Lan holiday.

On September 6, Mr. Che Quang Thuan (residing in Kim Tra ward, Hue city) discovered a Java pangolin and promptly reported it. The Forest Protection Department of the Northern Huong River area in coordination with the People's Committee of Kim Tra Ward has received, checked the health and prepared to release this individual back into the natural environment.

On the occasion of Vu Lan 2026, Forest Protection Departments in Hue City have implemented many practical activities to protect wildlife and raise public awareness.

The Forest Protection Force has increased inspections of pagodas and spiritual sites. Through patrolling, the forest rangers in the central area discovered a subject buying and selling dozens of wild birds in Phu Xuan ward. The subject was administratively fined 1.1 million VND. The birds have been seized and the procedures have been completed to release them back into the wild.

The Southern Song Huong Forest Protection Department coordinated with the Forest Protection Department of Region II and related units to release 40 starlings back into the wild. Previously, the subject who advertised and bought and sold this bird was discovered and administratively fined 8 million VND.
