On July 29, the Center for Rescue, Conservation and Development of Life (Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park) said that it had just received 4 wild animals from local authorities for care and rescue.
The 4 wild animals (DVHD) received include: 1 mountain tarpaulin presented by the People's Committee of Hoa Trach commune; 1 small culi individual transferred by the Cam Lo - Dong Ha Forest Protection Department; 1 monkey individual from the People's Committee of Quang Ninh commune and 1 pig-tailed monkey individual handed over by the People's Committee of Tan Gianh commune.
At the time of receipt, all 4 individuals were in poor health or were injured. The mountain turtle weighed 2.4kg and was in poor health; the small turtle (0.25kg) showed signs of head injuries; the monkey (9kg) had a decreased wild population; and the pig-tailed monkey (1.5kg) also showed signs of weakness.
Immediately after receiving the treatment, the Center urgently conducted health check-ups, isolation, monitoring and treatment regimens for each individual to best recover before considering the possibility of releasing them back to the natural environment.
Notably, all 4 individuals mentioned above are on the list of endangered, precious and rare species protected under Decree No. 84/2021/ND-CP of the Government.
The Center representative said that receiving and rescuing wildlife individuals from local people and authorities is a regular activity, demonstrating responsibility in biodiversity conservation in the Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park area in particular and the Central region in general.
