On the evening of March 3, the Department of Physical Education and Sports in coordination with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province organized the opening ceremony of the "2025 National Muay Thai Club Championship" in Vung Tau City.
This is a high-performance sports tournament organized to celebrate the 79th anniversary of Vietnam Sports Day (March 27, 1946 - March 27, 2025); celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South, National Reunification Day and International Labor Day.
There are about 450 fighters from 41 units from provinces, cities and sectors nationwide competing in direct competition (knock-out) aged 15-16 and 17-40 in weight categories; competing in male and female performances in Wai kru and Mai Muay events. Each fighter is only allowed to participate in 1 competition and 1 performance.
The tournament is held outdoors, in public areas at No. 1 Ba Cu (Ward 1, Vung Tau City) to facilitate people and tourists to watch fierce matches and spectacular performances. The matches and performances are expected to last until March 10.
According to the Organizing Committee, through the tournament, it contributes to promoting the development of the Muay Thai training movement at Clubs nationwide; discovering and nurturing sports talents, focusing on training national teams to prepare for international tournaments, SEA Games, World Games, and World Championship in 2025.
