Opening of New Zealand - Vietnam Business Council

The opening ceremony of the New Zealand - Vietnam Business Council (NZVBC) was held in Auckland.

According to information from the Ministry of Industry and Trade, on January 28, 2026 (local time) in Auckland city, with the coordination and mobilization of the Embassy and the Vietnamese Trade Office in New Zealand, the Auckland Chamber of Commerce (Auckland Business Chamber) organized the Opening Ceremony of the New Zealand - Vietnam Business Council (New Zealand - Viet Nam Business Council - NZVBC).

The event attracted hundreds of guests who are representatives of New Zealand organizations, businesses and individuals operating in many fields with potential for the Vietnamese market who are interested in and want to learn about the market, find partners and do business with the Vietnamese market.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Chairman of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce, Lawyer Simon Bridges affirmed that this event is an important milestone for the business community in New Zealand, contributing positively to the prosperous development of both New Zealand and Vietnam.

Lawyer Simon Bridges highly appreciates Vietnam as a large market with more than 106 million people, with the fastest and most dynamic growth rate in the ASEAN region.

The NZVBC Council will strive to bring a realistic view of the market, provide and build a reliable network to narrow the gap between strategy and action, bringing many practical benefits to businesses of the two countries" - Mr. Simon Bridges emphasized.

At the event, guest delegates were briefed on the NZVBC Council; accordingly, the Council committed to focusing on promoting effective cooperation, bringing practical benefits to member businesses, and at the same time coordinating with partners to organize forums, conferences, seminars to promote trade, investment, technology sharing and transfer, digital transformation, e-commerce...

Emphasizing early operation, the Council will move towards establishing cooperation programs, establishing business delegations to work in Vietnam, organizing investment and trade promotion conferences and creating a deep connection network for each industry and each field. In addition, the NZVBC Council will gather businesses with practical experience in the Vietnamese market to advise and support in making effective business decisions for each specific model.

At the opening ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to New Zealand Phan Minh Giang welcomed the establishment of the NZVBC Council, practically meeting the aspirations of the business community of New Zealand and Vietnam.

Ambassador Phan Minh Giang emphasized that this is an important and timely contribution to the joint efforts of both countries to effectively implement the Vietnam-New Zealand Comprehensive Strategic Partnership just established in 2025.

On this occasion, Ambassador Phan Minh Giang affirmed that the Vietnamese Government is always committed to creating all favorable conditions for New Zealand businesses and investors to promote effective and sustainable business investment activities in Vietnam.
