On May 23, Long Xuyen Ward Police said that the Investigation Police Agency of An Giang Provincial Police has issued a decision to prosecute the case, prosecute the defendant and execute an arrest warrant for Tran Thien Nga (born in 1980, residing in Long Xuyen ward) to investigate the act of "Illegally possessing drugs"; and at the same time prosecute and temporarily detain Nguyen Anh Thu (born in 1993, residing in Long Xuyen ward) to investigate the act of "Illegally trading drugs".
Previously, on May 16, 2026, Long Xuyen Ward Police coordinated with the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department of An Giang Provincial Police to inspect a boarding house in My Quoi hamlet, Long Xuyen ward. Through inspection, the Police force discovered and caught Tran Thien Nga and Nguyen Anh Thu red-handed in the act of illegally possessing and trading drugs.
At the scene, the police force seized on Tran Thien Nga 2 nylon packages containing powder and crystals suspected to be drugs. Initially, Nga confessed that the above exhibits were heroin and methamphetamine. Continuing to search the rented rooms of the subjects, the police force seized more exhibits and tools used to use drugs.
Working with the police agency, Nguyen Anh Thu confessed that the seized exhibits were methamphetamine and tools used to divide drugs into small portions for resale to addicts in the area.
Currently, the case is being further investigated and handled by the Investigation Police Agency of An Giang Provincial Police in accordance with the law.
