A woman in Hanoi was fined 20.5 million VND for illegally trading wild birds.

According to information from the Center for Nature Education (ENV), Mobile Forest Protection Team No. 2 of Hanoi issued a decision to fine Ms. N.N (born in 1995, residing in Phuc Loc commune, Hanoi City) 20.5 million VND for the act of raising and advertising illegally selling wild birds, including endangered, precious, and rare species.

Previously, from people's reports, Ms. N.regularly posted videos and livestreamed selling some bird species such as sun parrots, African gray parrots, monk parrots, red-breasted parrots,...on Facebook and TikTok.

All the birds raised and advertised do not have papers proving their legal origin.

In fact, the illegal trading of wild birds on social networks is still complicated, largely due to the demand for ornamental bird farming of a part of the population.

However, the act of buying, selling, keeping, and advertising wild animals of illegal origin is an illegal act and will be strictly handled according to regulations.
