On December 31, a representative of Saigon Railway Joint Stock Company said that the unit had sent a petition to the Traffic Police Department of Ho Chi Minh City Police, the People's Committee of Linh Dong Ward and the Linh Dong Ward Police to investigate and strictly handle the case of a woman who ran a red light, dodged the lowered barrier to cross the tracks before the train arrived and assaulted a railway employee on duty.
The above incident occurred at around 5:00 p.m. on July 16, 2024, at the guarded level crossing Km 1714+590 (intersection between Linh Dong Street and Thong Nhat Railway, Linh Dong Ward, Thu Duc City), railway staff fully performed the train reception procedure.
The warning signal (red light, alarm bell, automatic barrier) was activated. However, Ms. D.T.T.T (born in 1983, residing in Linh Dong ward) deliberately ran the red light, dodged the lowered barrier to cross the tracks before the train arrived.
The incident was reported by the Railway Management Team to Linh Dong Ward Police to make a record. During the handling process, the woman continued to show an aggressive attitude and disrespect to the relevant parties including: Traffic Police, Linh Dong Ward Police, and representatives of the railway management unit.
More seriously, Ms. T also assaulted and injured employees on duty; in particular, assaulted a pregnant woman, broke into the guardhouse, pushed and disturbed the control equipment.
"This action is considered extremely dangerous, can cause equipment to short circuit, affect train safety, and endanger road users if the barrier is suddenly lowered," informed Saigon Railway Joint Stock Company.
The company also added that the situation of traffic participants lacking awareness at railway-road intersections is quite common, causing difficulties in ensuring train safety.
Ms. T's case is a typical example, showing disregard for the law, potentially causing serious accidents.
