According to the police, recently, the Department of Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention, Hanoi City Police has discovered that many electronic information pages of State agencies (gov.vn) have been exploited to install, post, redirect or link to inappropriate advertising content such as card games, gambling, etc.
The common feature of this attack is that hackers take advantage of security vulnerabilities to take control of websites and servers, thereby inserting advertising links or even installing malware. When users access the website, the content will be redirected to gambling and betting websites.
Setting hidden links for online gambling and betting advertisements can seriously affect the reputation of state agencies, potentially endangering network security and information security, and at the same time increasing crimes related to betting and gambling.
To promptly prevent the above illegal activities, the Department of Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention and Control, Hanoi City Police recommends that agencies and units in charge of the information system implement the following measures:
Proactively review the entire website system, paying special attention to checking source code pages. It is necessary to pay attention to newly created or time-shaped messages that are different from most other messages in the same directory.
Check administrative passwords and database access passwords to ensure safety.
Evaluate the overall network security of the system, and deploy automatic monitoring solutions to detect unusual changes early and have timely handling directions.
Strengthen monitoring and prepare handling plans when detecting signs of network installation, exploitation or attack.
Regularly monitor warning channels of authorities and large organizations on information security to promptly detect cyber attack risks.
