On August 31, according to information from the Dong Thap Provincial Police website, Thuong Lac Ward Police discovered and caught red-handed V.T.T transporting 350 packs of foreign cigarettes of all kinds.
At around 11:00 a.m. on August 29, while patrolling the road in Thuong Thoi Hau hamlet (Thuong Lac ward, Dong Thap province), the Crime Prevention Police Team under Thuong Lac Ward Police discovered and caught red-handed V.T.T (53 years old, residing in Thuong Lac ward, Dong Thap province) transporting 350 packs of foreign cigarettes of all kinds.
After that, Thuong Lac Ward Police made a record of the incident, temporarily detained the violating exhibits to verify, clarify and handle in accordance with the provisions of law.
Previously, on August 28, in Dao Thanh ward (Dong Thap province), the Department of Investigation Police on Corruption, Economic Crimes, Smuggling, and Environment (Dong Thap Provincial Police) coordinated with Dao Thanh Ward Police to inspect a business establishment owned by Mr. V.T.L (23 years old, residing in My Phong ward, Dong Thap province).
At the time of inspection, the authorities discovered at Mr. L's business establishment 460 electronic cigarette plants of various types and 152 bottles of essential oils used for electronic cigarettes. The total value of the goods is estimated at about 60 million VND.
Through investigation, Mr. L initially admitted to the violation and stated that the above goods were purchased from a person in Ho Chi Minh City (identity and address unknown), then brought them to Dong Thap to sell for profit through the social network Facebook, used for advertising and introducing products.
The case is being further verified, clarified and handled according to the provisions of law.
