Phu Quoc Special Zone (An Giang) has just officially announced the Project "Strengthening foreign language proficiency for the community in the period 2026–2030, orientation to 2045" combined with the "First Phu Quoc English Day" (evening of August 2).
The event marked an important turning point for the locality on its journey of global integration, attracting more than 600 delegates, local people and a large number of international tourists to attend.
Within the framework of the Festival (Phu Quoc English Day), people experienced a lively English practice space through 4 experience zones: Training consulting, learning path orientation suitable for each age group; Indigenous cultural exchange, connecting local communities and tourists; Practical commercial area with 100% English trading and exchange; Technology experience, breakthrough in self-learning languages through artificial intelligence (AI) applications.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan (whose child participated in the program) excitedly shared: "Taking my child to Phu Quoc English Day not only helps my child have more new friends, be bold in communicating, but also helps improve my English proficiency. I really want Phu Quoc to organize English Days like this more often, not only for my children but for all adults to participate".
Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Loan - Vice Chairwoman of Phu Quoc Special Economic Zone People's Committee - said: The project is built with a strategic roadmap, divided into clear phases. September 2026 - June 2027: Pilot implementation in 10-15 3-level general schools, and opening community classes in Duong Dong, Ganh Dau, An Thoi and Duong To. Phase 2026 - 2030: Expanding the model to at least 50% of general schools and doubling the number of community classes; expected to organize a summary of phase 1 in 2031; Phase 2031 - 2035: Universalizing 100% of general schools and comprehensively expanding in residential communities.

With the message "Each Phu Quoc citizen is a tourism ambassador", the focus of training is aimed at the leading labor force such as small traders, taxi drivers, service staff and students. People can register through the website as well as the link of the Organizing Committee publicly on social networks and mass media. We will classify subjects to arrange the most suitable study schedule (morning or evening). The core thing is not to force everyone to communicate fluently immediately but to equip themselves with basic knowledge and confidence to overcome language barriers when welcoming tourists," Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Loan emphasized.
Also at the ceremony, the Phu Quoc Special Economic Zone People's Committee signed strategic cooperation agreements with educational organizations, foreign language centers and Tam Tri Luc Company, along with a team of super-intellectual record holders, and awarded many valuable Community English scholarships.
