On May 18, the Project Management Board for Investment and Construction of Civil and Industrial Works of Quang Ngai province said that it is coordinating with contractors to mobilize human resources to demolish house number 113 Phan Chu Trinh street to serve this intersection expansion project.
The house was built before 1975, on an area of nearly 290m2. Currently, the building is no longer in use and has seriously deteriorated.
According to the approved plan, more than 111m2 of land of the house is recovered to expand the old intersection. However, after considering the current status of the structure and requesting urban embellishment, functional agencies decided to demolish the entire project because the remaining part does not ensure safe exploitation as well as urban aesthetics.
The remaining land area after demolition of about 280m2 is not within the project scope and will be handed over to the Provincial Land Fund Development Center for management according to regulations.
Mr. Nguyen Van Cuong, Deputy Director of the Provincial Civil and Industrial Construction Investment Project Management Board, said that the demolition of the house is expected to be carried out within 10 days and completed before May 25 to create a clean ground for implementing the next items of the project.
The old intersection is the intersection of 4 roads with high traffic density, belonging to 2 wards Cam Thanh and Nghia Lo. The roads include Nguyen Cong Phuong, Tran Hung Dao, Phan Chu Trinh and Nguyen Nghiem.
This area often experiences localized congestion, especially during peak hours when traffic from many directions pours in at the same time.
In 2022, the project to expand the old 5-way intersection was approved with a total investment of 95 billion VND, invested by the former Quang Ngai City People's Committee. Of which, site clearance costs were more than 73 billion VND, and the construction value was more than 6.6 billion VND.
The previous implementation process encountered many difficulties due to obstacles in compensation, resettlement and site clearance, causing the progress to be prolonged.
From July 1, 2025, the project is invested by the Provincial Civil and Industrial Construction Investment Project Management Board. After receiving it, the unit has reviewed and gradually removed "bottlenecks" in the implementation process.
In December 2025, the project began to be implemented and basically completed the upgrading of sidewalks in some sections, while expanding the road surface for vehicles to run.
Currently, the investor is actively coordinating with the local authorities to remove obstacles, accelerate compensation and site clearance, especially at Nguyen Cong Phuong road section, in order to soon hand over clean ground to the construction unit and ensure the project's set progress.
