According to the report of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Tay Ninh province, as of November 4, the total damage caused by natural disasters in the area is estimated at more than 61 billion VND.

For nearly 2 weeks, prolonged heavy rain combined with floods from upstream has caused many low-lying areas in Tay Ninh and Dong Thap Muoi to be deeply flooded. Many canals and fields are flooded quickly, locally isolating some residential areas. People had to mobilize vehicles to reinforce embankments, storm property, and move livestock to safety.

In Tay Ninh, more than 2,200 hectares of rice were deeply flooded, nearly 1,000 hectares of rice were lost. In addition, hundreds of hectares of vegetables, fruit trees and aquaculture areas were also severely affected. Prolonged rain and floods have caused production disruption, input costs have increased, causing great pressure on farmers.

Detailed statistics show that thunderstorms and heavy rain caused damage of more than 9 billion VND, floods caused damage of over 38.4 billion VND, the rest came from landslides on river banks and canals, threatening many residential areas, production land and traffic works along the river.

Local authorities have mobilized forces to support people to tie up houses, transport materials, and build temporary dykes to protect residential areas. The agricultural sector recommends harvesting areas that can be saved early, and at the same time preparing plans to restore production after the water recedes.

Medical and environmental sanitation work has been strengthened to prevent epidemics after floods. Organizations, unions and philanthropists also joined hands to support necessities, life jackets, and flashlights, helping people in flooded areas to soon stabilize their lives.

Currently, there may still be local rain, and water recedes slowly in low-lying areas. The authorities recommend that people closely monitor the weather situation and limit travel through deeply flooded areas. Tay Ninh province is proposing support from the Central Government to soon overcome the damage, restore infrastructure and stabilize people's lives.
