Previously, the provincial Department of Finance reported on the appraisal of the proposal for approval of the investment policy of the Phan Thiet Airport project - Civil Aviation Category in Mui Ne Ward, Lam Dong Province proposed by the Department of Construction.
Accordingly, the above project is eligible to submit to the Provincial People's Committee for approval of the project investment policy under the form of bidding to select investors according to the provisions of the Investment Law 2020.
Therefore, the Provincial People's Committee Office conducts procedures to collect opinions from members of the Provincial People's Committee. After that, the office synthesized and submitted to the Provincial People's Committee for consideration and consultation with the Provincial People's Committee Party Committee.
In October 2025, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - Nguyen Hong Hai sent a document to 4 ministries to ask for opinions on the appraisal of the Phan Thiet Airport project - civil aviation item.
In mid-July 2025, a company sent a document to the Office of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee regarding interest and request for investment in civil items of Phan Thiet Airport Project.
Phan Thiet airport started construction in January 2015. According to the approved plan, the project consists of 2 items: military airport and civil airport.
Currently, the military item built by the Air Defense - Air Force has been basically completed and put into operation. The civil aviation item is carrying out procedures on the project investment policy.
When completed, the level 4E airport will have a designed capacity of 2 million passengers/year by 2030. The estimated exploitation period is 50 years.
