On March 10, the Department of State Book and Archives in coordination with the Navy Region 2 Command organized an exhibition "Hoang Sa, Truong Sa - Sacred Sea and Islands" and "Heroic Vietnam People's Navy - 70 years of the journey to protect the sea" at the 171th Naval Brigade (Vung Tau City, Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province).
This is a practical activity to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025); 50 years of the Liberation of Truong Sa archipelago (April 29, 1975 - April 29, 2025), especially the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Navy (May 7,55 - May 7, 2025).
The exhibition introduces nearly 200 valuable documents, maps, and archival images from the Vietnam National Archives Centers, the Vietnam Military History Museum, the Navy Museum, and collected documents from archives, national libraries in France and the US... about some typical images of the 70 years of building, fighting, and growing of the Vietnam Navy.
At the same time, many documents have been published in the Vietnam National Archives from the 19th century to the present, including indigenous documents and Nguyen Dynasty's woodwork that have been recognized by UNESCO as a World Documentary Heritage. And some maps painted by Western countries about Asia, the East Sea area, published from the 17th to the 20th century, showing Hoang Sa archipelago and Truong Sa archipelago with international names Pracel or paracels in the territory of Vietnam... are the strong evidence affirming Vietnam's sovereignty over these two archipelagos.
The exhibition, with authentic and objective historical evidence, has promoted the heroic tradition of the Vietnam People's Navy over the past 70 years; contributed to educating patriotism, fostering love for the homeland, sea and islands; continued to strongly affirm Vietnam's sovereignty over the two archipelagos of Hoang Sa and Truong Sa.
