On September 3rd, along the coast of Yen Hoa commune, a series of purple clam shells were washed ashore by waves, densely concentrated on the sandy beach.
This situation stretches for many kilometers, concentrated most in the coastal area through My Hoa village.
Local people said that previously, these purple clams were at sea, about 1km from the shore. After many large waves, the clam shells were swept away and densely piled onto the sandbank.
The situation of clam shells drifting ashore once appeared in Yen Hoa commune, but the number was less.
Mr. Tran Vinh Tuan - Head of My Hoa village - said that about 1 week ago, a large number of purple clam shells were swept ashore by waves from the sea.
When they first drifted in, interspersed in the shell, there were still some red clams still alive, along with some dead ones, starting to decompose.
According to Mr. Tuan, the cause of the large number of purple clam shells drifting ashore has not been determined to date.
Talking to a reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Phan Quang Cuong - Chairman of Yen Hoa Commune People's Committee - said that on the morning of September 3rd, officials went to inspect the phenomenon of clam shells drifting to the coast in the locality to have a plan to handle and ensure the environment, and at the same time determine the cause of this phenomenon.
