On October 25, the Steering Committee for the prevention and response to environmental incidents caused by fire and explosion of Binh Duong Provincial People's Committee organized a situational drill at Nan Pao Materials Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Dai Dang Industrial Park, Thu Dau Mot City, Binh Duong Province).
This is a company specializing in the production of various types of industrial glue, various types of adhesives, and laminating products with a total capacity of 100,000 tons of products/year. The company has a total area of 100,800m2 with 195 employees. During the production process, this company uses many types of chemicals.
The company has a system of production workshops, raw material warehouses, complex office buildings, warehouses for raw materials and finished products, laboratories, hazardous waste storage facilities, etc.
The units conducted a drill to respond to a fire or explosion incident during the transportation of chemicals, which led to the release of chemicals into water sources. In the area where the incident occurred, there were workers counting and loading goods, and about 140 other workers were working nearby. At the time of the incident, 33 people were trapped and could not escape.
This is a large-scale exercise, with the participation of about 500 people. In which, forces under the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department of Binh Duong Province coordinated with grassroots fire prevention teams to undertake the main task of quickly handling fire incidents and rescuing workers from fires containing chemicals.
The firefighting exercise involved many forces and technical equipment. Notably, there was a ladder truck that both rescued workers in distress at high altitudes and brought water to extinguish the fire. In addition, robots were also mobilized to approach and extinguish the fire at key locations. The forces focused on rescuing all victims for emergency treatment and controlling and extinguishing the fire.
After the fire, technical teams from departments and branches were mobilized to handle the environment. Notably, the drill invited additional teams from Binh Duong Water and Environment Corporation to collect chemicals leaked into the sewer. The collected leaked chemicals will be taken to the waste treatment plant, ensuring a safe environment after the incident.
According to records, Binh Duong is a province with many factories producing goods, many companies using chemicals for production. During operation, there are many risks leading to fire and explosion incidents. The above simulation exercise helps businesses predict situations in advance to have effective solutions to prevent and handle arising problems, ensuring safety for workers.
