On the afternoon of September 26, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Da Huoai district (Lam Dong) said that on the evening of September 25, in the area of Da Oai and Madaguoi communes, there was prolonged heavy rain accompanied by tornadoes.
Heavy rain and tornadoes have broken and uprooted many crops of local people such as durian, cashew and jackfruit.
Immediately after the tornado occurred, the People's Committee of Da Huoai district directed functional agencies to coordinate with localities to deploy measures to overcome the consequences; at the same time, focus on calculating the damage to have a support plan for the people.
According to statistics, a total of 97 durian trees from 3 to 10 years old of 19 households were uprooted and broken by the tornado, causing severe damage. Of which, Da Oai commune had 49 damaged durian trees and Madaguoi commune had 48 trees. In addition, dozens of other crops such as cashew, jackfruit and scattered trees were broken and damaged by the tornado.
It is estimated that heavy rain and tornadoes broke people's crops, causing damage of about 500 million VND.
The People's Committee of Da Huoai district has directed localities to urgently arrange forces to help people focus on overcoming the consequences; at the same time, directed localities to proactively handle fallen trees on the road to ensure smooth traffic; promptly encourage and visit households with damaged crops.
