On April 17, Can Tho Police said that after Decree 168 was implemented synchronously, traffic violations such as: running red lights, driving in the wrong lane, going in the wrong direction, going onto the sidewalk... in the city have decreased significantly. Many people have begun to voluntarily comply with traffic lights, even without the presence of authorities.

According to statistics from the Traffic Police Department, in the first quarter of 2025 alone, the whole city had 59 traffic accidents, killing 45 people and injuring 27 people (a decrease of 38.5% of the number of accidents and 68.6% of injuries compared to the same period in 2024).
During the same period, the number of administrative violations decreased by more than 1,600 cases; the fine was reduced by VND7.8 billion, equivalent to 33.3%; the number of driver's licenses revoked decreased by nearly 52%; the number of vehicles detained decreased by more than 63.3%.

Can Tho Police said that the above figures clearly reflect the effectiveness of Decree No. 168 in regulating behavior, raising awareness of traffic participants, and minimizing violations and accidents.
In addition, the image of people stopping at the right line, giving way to pedestrians, and complying with traffic regulations is appearing more and more on the routes in Can Tho City, contributing to the formation of a new look for urban traffic culture.

Can Tho police said that according to the functional forces, the results achieved in the past time not only came from the strong legal effect of the Decree, but also thanks to the drastic participation of industries, levels and especially the consensus and support from the people.
However, for Decree No. 168 to continue to promote long-term and sustainable effectiveness, there needs to be stronger cooperation from the whole society.
Decree 168, officially effective from January 1, 2025, replacing the previous Decree 100 is considered a drastic step of the Government to improve discipline and restore traffic safety and order. With strong enough sanctions, the Decree has clearly demonstrated deterrence and strictly handled intentional violations that pose a high risk of causing traffic insecurity.
