According to the agreement, LG Energy Solution will provide new-generation NCM cells, while Kim Long Motor will undertake the production and assembly of the complete battery pack.
This type of battery is considered safe, fireproof, compact and lighter than the LFP (Lithium iron phosphate - LiFePO4) battery, saving at least 30% of electricity, long life and longer travel distance.
The battery manufacturing and assembly plant is located in Kim Long Motor Hue Industrial Park, with a scale of 9 hectares and a total investment of 1,200 billion VND. The plant is expected to be operational in early 2026, built according to international standards with an automation rate of up to 90%. In the first phase, the capacity reached 1 million kWh/year and will continue to expand in the following years.
The factory has main workshops including dredging, welding, assembling and packaging batteries, becoming one of the leading modern battery production complexes in Vietnam.
Mr. Ho Cong Hai - General Director of Kim Long Motor - shared: "We consider the "heart" of electric vehicles to be batteries, and mastering core technology in the production and assembly of battery sets is the key to ensuring sustainable development in the future. Cooperation with LG Energy Solution - the world's leading Lithium-ion battery manufacturer - will help Kim Long Motor proactively source, optimize costs and control quality. This is an important factor to contribute to shaping and strongly developing the "Made in Vietnam" high-quality electric vehicles in the future.
When put into operation, Kim Long Motor's battery manufacturing and assembly plant will help achieve the localization target of over 80% by the second quarter of 2026, while contributing to affirming Vietnam's position on the global and regional clean energy industry map".
