In the weekend days close to the 2026 Lunar New Year, in many residential areas in Da Nang City, images of cadres, soldiers, volunteers of the Red Cross Society and youth union members diligently painting houses for the poor and policy families have left many emotions.

The activity is part of the "Tet of Compassion" movement in 2026 implemented by the Da Nang City Red Cross Society, with the goal of supporting the new painting of 30 houses for disadvantaged households in Hai Van, Hoa Khanh and Thanh Khe wards. In each locality, the program receives close coordination from the Fatherland Front, mass organizations and socio-political organizations, creating a widespread spread in the community.
Old, peeling houses over time have gradually been put on a "new coat". From early morning, forces were present, each person doing their own thing from cleaning up, rearranging furniture to sweeping lime, painting walls, redoing degraded parts. A bustling, warm working atmosphere spread in each small house.

Mr. Le Van Nam's family, residing in group 27, Hoa Khanh ward, is one of the households supported. Belonging to the poor household category, Mr. Nam currently lives with his daughter, all expenses in the family depend on his daughter's precarious income. Tet is approaching, worries are still constant when the old house does not have conditions to be repaired.
Hearing the news that volunteer forces came to paint the house, I was very happy, got up early to wait. Looking at the degraded house, I was also sad, now being cared for by the government and levels, my family is very happy. The house is newly painted, and my spirit is also more excited," Mr. Nam said emotionally.
Many other poor households and policy families also receive simple joy from the joint efforts of the forces. From the hands of volunteers, the houses become more spacious and clean, helping people reduce worries when Tet comes and Spring returns.
According to Mr. Nguyen Tien Lam, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang City Red Cross Society, the program is expected to paint 30 new houses for poor households and policy families in Da Nang City. The activity not only provides material support but also spreads the spirit of mutual affection, contributing to many families celebrating Tet in spacious, warm and meaningful houses.
The new walls and renovated kitchens may not completely erase the difficulties, but they are enough to bring a warmer Tet to the people," Mr. Lam emphasized.
In the days leading up to Tet, newly painted houses not only change the color of lime and mortar, but also ignite faith, warmth and humanity in residential areas of Da Nang City.
