According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, this morning (December 12), cold air has affected most of the North Central region and some places in the Northwest; the Gulf of Tonkin has strong northeast winds of level 6, sometimes level 7, gusting to level 8.
On December 12, cold air continued to affect other places in the North Central region, some places in the Northwest and North Central regions.
The North and North Central regions are cold, the mountainous areas of the North are very cold, some places are very cold. The lowest temperature in the North is generally from 14 - 16 degrees Celsius, in mountainous areas 11 - 13 degrees Celsius, in high mountainous areas some places are below 10 degrees Celsius. The average temperature is about 16 - 18 degrees Celsius; in mountainous areas 13 - 15 degrees Celsius.
Hanoi area is cold. The lowest temperature in this cold air mass is commonly 14 - 16 degrees Celsius.
The lowest temperature in the North Central region is commonly from 16 - 18 degrees Celsius; the average temperature is 18 - 20 degrees Celsius.
Due to the influence of cold air combined with disturbances in the upper easterly wind zone, from December 12 to about December 15, the Central Central and South Central regions will have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, locally very heavy rain; the North Central region will have rain and showers.
Thunderstorms may cause tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind. Heavy rain may cause flooding in low-lying areas; flash floods in small rivers and streams; and landslides on steep slopes.
From the night of December 12, cold air continues to strengthen and affect other places in the Northwest, Central Central and some places in the South Central. Northeast wind inland is strong at level 3, coastal areas at level 3 - 4.
At sea, Gulf of Tonkin strong northeast wind level 6, gusting to level 7-8; rough sea; waves from 1.5 - 3m high. From the night of December 12, there will be strong wind level 6, sometimes level 7, gusting to level 8 - 9; rough sea; waves from 2 - 3.5m high.
The North East Sea area (including Hoang Sa archipelago) has strong northeast winds of level 6 - 7, gusting to level 8 - 9; rough seas; waves 3 - 5m high.
The sea area from Quang Tri to Thua Thien Hue has strong northeast wind level 6, gusting to level 7 - 8; rough sea; waves from 2 - 4m high.
Strong winds and large waves at sea are likely to affect boating and other activities.
