US Navy blocks Iran-linked ship near Hormuz

The US Navy intercepted a ship under sanctions in the Arabian Sea on April 25.

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) said that the M/V Sevan ship is among 19 ships of the "dark fleet" sanctioned by the US Treasury Department on April 24 for being linked to "transporting large quantities of Iranian energy, oil and gas worth billions of USD, including propane and butane, to foreign markets".

On April 25, the US dispatched naval helicopters to intercept this cargo ship. After that, the M/V Sevan ship followed the direction of the US military and returned to Iran under escort.

M/V Sevan is an oil tanker that used to transport Iranian goods. This week, the ship was monitored while approaching the Strait of Hormuz.

The ship is owned and managed by Anka Energy & Logistics Co, headquartered in Dubai.

CENTCOM said that US forces are still continuing to implement the blockade order for ships entering and leaving Iranian ports, and 37 ships have been forced to change direction since this measure began to be applied.

Earlier on the same day, April 25, US President Donald Trump canceled the trip of senior special envoys to Pakistan to prepare for the possibility of negotiating an agreement with Iran, raising doubts about the future of a ceasefire between the two sides.
