On May 3, Israel's ministerial procurement committee approved a plan to purchase 2 new fighter squadrons, with a total estimated cost of billions of USD, to strengthen military capabilities after experience from the conflict with Iran.
According to Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz, these 2 squadrons will include F-35 fighters manufactured by Lockheed Martin and F-15IA manufactured by Boeing. He said that this decision reflects the need to accelerate the modernization process of the force.
Mr. Israel Katz emphasized that the lessons learned from the recent military campaign require Israel to accelerate building defense power. He affirmed that the goal is to maintain superiority over opponents.
This procurement plan is seen as the starting point for a large-scale force strengthening program worth 350 billion shekels, equivalent to about 118.9 billion USD, towards a "decade of enhanced security".
The program aims to strengthen defense capabilities and ensure the ability to respond to security challenges in the long term.
