This announcement was made after information appeared expressing concern about the security issue of the new private jet during its visit to Turkey.
According to AFP, Mr. Trump made his first flight on this refurbished Boeing 747-8 on July 1. However, his use of an old private jet to return after the NATO Conference in Ankara (Turkey) on July 10 raised many questions about the safety assurance of the new private jet.
Answering press questions about still using a private jet that is not fully equipped with missile defense systems, Mr. Trump said: "The aircraft already has many modern systems, but as far as I know, it will be taken to be upgraded to the maximum level.
President Trump said that the upgrade process is expected to last about a month, but did not disclose the specific items that will be added.
Previously, the US leader had repeatedly rejected opinions that the new aircraft had security problems. He once explained that the aircraft was deployed to a US airbase in the UK after a conference in Turkey so that soldiers would have the opportunity to visit.
The new aircraft is painted in the design of red, white and navy blue chosen by Mr. Trump, replacing the traditional white-light blue color scheme of Air Force One.
According to the plan, Boeing will hand over 2 new generation Air Force One aircraft to the US Government before 2030, after a series of delays and cost overruns.
