On the afternoon of August 11, at the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thanh Hoa province, the Organizing Committee held a press conference to inform about the Gymkhana National PVOIL Cup 2026 Car Racing Tournament.
According to the Organizing Committee, the tournament takes place for two days, August 22-23, at Ham Rong Square, Thanh Hoa province, with the participation of 25 athletes in two categories.
In which, the Forward Bridge (FWD) class has 13 athletes; the Rear Bridge/Double Bridge (RWD/AWD) class has 12 athletes.
This is the final leg of the PVOIL VGC 2026 season, thereby determining the national champions after two rounds in the Southern and Northern regions.
This year's season includes 3 stages: Gymkhana Car Racing Championship Southern PVOIL Cup 2026 taking place on April 19 in Ho Chi Minh City; Gymkhana Car Racing Championship Northern PVOIL Cup 2026 taking place on June 27-28 in Quang Ninh and National Championship stage in Thanh Hoa.
This is also the third national championship season of Gymkhana in Vietnam and the second time the National Championship stage has been held at Ham Rong Square.
Answering a question from Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Nguyen Dai Hoang - General Director of OTV Media Joint Stock Company, Co-Head of the Organizing Committee - said that this is the second year that the Organizing Committee has chosen Thanh Hoa to organize the race because Ham Rong Square has a suitable space, meeting the requirements for organizing the race, moreover, this is a place associated with the history of Ham Rong victory. Thanh Hoa is also a locality that creates the best conditions for the race and this is also the desire to promote Thanh Hoa tourism.

Gymkhana is an automobile sport that requires athletes to combine speed with vehicle control, sampling memory, trajectory selection and performing precise technical operations.
Athlete's achievements are determined based on the completion time of the test and the penalty time for errors in the process of performing according to the tournament regulations.
In the FWD class, front-wheel drive vehicles, including electric and hybrid vehicles, are eligible to compete and have unlimited engine capacity. The RWD/AWD class is for rear-wheel drive or two-wheel drive vehicles, including electric and hybrid vehicles.
Athletes will perform time-tracking runs on a separate track designed by the Organizing Committee to suit each ranking.
Also according to Mr. Nguyen Dai Hoang, the National Championship stage gathers athletes with outstanding achievements and abilities after regional rounds.
According to Mr. Hoang, besides identifying champions, the tournament aims to improve professional standards, organization and safety, creating conditions for Vietnamese athletes to accumulate competition experience.
In addition to the competition content, during the two days of the tournament, there are also experiential activities for the audience such as Gymkhana Car Game, sail driving experience and Gymkhana Kid for children with balance bikes in a specially designed area.
Ham Rong Square area will be arranged into functional areas including a competition area, a technical area, an area for athletes and an audience area. The Organizing Committee said it will implement traffic diversion, control and arrange a safe distance throughout the process of vehicles operating on the sail.
The decisive rounds taking place on the afternoon of August 23 are expected to be broadcast live on Otofun platforms and re-broadcast on Thanh Hoa Newspaper, Radio and Television.
The Gymkhana National Championship PVOIL Cup 2026 car race is organized by the Vietnam Automobile Sports Federation in coordination with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thanh Hoa province and OTV Media Joint Stock Company.
