Football teams have attention
The representative of the supervisory board of VTV Cup 2024 shared that this is difficult to say because foreign teams all have the main goal of competing professionally. In theory, if there is an excellent player, teams are completely capable of expressing their desire to approach that player.
However, in international tournaments so far held in Vietnam for female players, we have not witnessed any cases of any team offering to hire Vietnamese players to join the team immediately after the tournament. .
The cases of players Nguyen Thi Ngoc Hoa (formerly) or Tran Thi Thanh Thuy (currently) going abroad to play were all due to the fact that the home team VTV Binh Dien Long An proactively sought out a connecting partner and reached an agreement for them. At the same time, the team accepted to let key players go abroad to play long-term to develop their skills.
The 2023 Asian Women's Club Volleyball Championship held in Vinh Phuc in early 2023 recognized a large number of professional analysts in the participating teams. On the field at that time, all teams (including the Vietnamese women's volleyball team - registered under the name Sport Center 1) had data analysis elements. From the collected indicators, each team knows the professional value each Vietnamese player has shown. After that tournament, even when we won the championship, no international team worked to hire Vietnamese players to play for us.
Players need effective representatives
Currently, Vietnamese volleyball has issued and implemented the Player Transfer Regulations (starting in 2010). In fact, Vietnamese female volleyball players are all dependent on labor contracts signed with their teams or parent units. There are no specific regulations on ceiling or floor prices in transfers. Transfer contracts and transfer prices both come from an agreement based on the needs of the team or player.
When volleyball enters the professional environment, players who want to gain valuable contracts and have an attractive team offer them need to have an effective representative. Currently, no player has a specialized representative. Some players have signed contracts to receive private sponsorship from sportswear manufacturers, producing shoes and competition costumes. The number is still small, only stopping with product equipment contracts.
Tran Thi Thanh Thuy is a typical case of a Vietnamese female volleyball player going abroad to compete. Thanh Thuy's connections are mostly from VTV Binh Dien Long An unit. Thuy has a legal representative, her father. But one thing is for sure, Thanh Thuy does not have a specialized sports trading company to manage her. Many players around the world or Thai players have done this. The player's agent or management company will have all the conditions to broker and find the most suitable advertising contracts or transfer contracts for the player.
General Secretary of the Vietnam Volleyball Federation Le Tri Truong said that Vietnam's volleyball industry cannot be called professional. We are just starting to reach the semi-professional level. To be a professional volleyball platform, many factors must converge, especially a vibrant, high-quality transfer market for players and coaches.
Vietnamese volleyball, after more than 2 years of opening, allowing foreign players to return to compete in tournaments under the national system, still needs to have assessments from professional managers and from the Vietnam Volleyball Federation. Teams are being more cautious about allowing their quality players to play abroad because the performance pressure is still great. At the same time, all teams are racing to spend billions to hire foreign players to strengthen their forces.
