Coach Carles Cuadrat once said that the Philippines wants to exploit players of Filipino origin who are trained and played in developed football backgrounds in Europe or the United States.
In the list for the FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026, only Daisuke Sato, Amani Aguinaldo, Sandro Reyes, Kenji Nishioka and Javier Gayoso were born in the Philippines.
Notably in attack is Bjorn Kristensen, a player of Norwegian descent. The striker born in 2002 is currently playing for KFUM Oslo in the Norwegian championship and is considered one of the notable strikers of the Philippines.
Standing side by side with Kristensen is Sebastian Rasmussen, a striker born in 2002 who is playing for Hobro IK in the Danish league.
In midfield, Randy Schneider is a noteworthy face. The Swiss-born player once wore the jerseys of Swiss youth teams from U15 to U21 before choosing to play for the Philippines national team. Schneider is currently under contract with Andorra in the Spanish First Division.

At FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026, the Philippines is in Group B Division 1 with Vietnam, Thailand and Pakistan. The team will meet Vietnam at 7:30 PM on September 26th at Si Jalak Harupat Stadium in Bandung, then successively face Thailand on September 29th and Pakistan on October 2nd.
