Oil prices rose on Thursday, partially offsetting previous losses as investors watched peace talks between the United States and Iran, while supply shortages and reduced US inventories partially supported oil prices.
According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the world gasoline and oil market in this operating period is affected by key factors such as: negotiations between the US and Iran have tense factors, but then cool down; the transportation of goods through the Strait of Hormuz has become more favorable; the International Energy Agency (IEA) informed that commercial oil reserves are decreasing rapidly; military conflict between Russia and Ukraine is still taking place, Ukraine continues to attack Russian oil refineries... The above factors have caused world gasoline and oil product prices in recent days to increase and decrease depending on each item.
The average world finished gasoline and oil prices between the price adjustment period on May 14, 2026 and the price adjustment period on May 21, 2026 are: 136.432 USD/barrel of RON92 gasoline used to blend E5RON92 gasoline (up 7,700 USD/barrel, equivalent to an increase of 5.98%); 139.772 USD/barrel of RON95 gasoline (up 8.934 USD/barrel, equivalent to an increase of 6.83%); 155.306 USD/barrel of 0.05S diesel oil (up 9.268 USD/barrel, equivalent to an increase of 6.35%); 721.306 USD/ton of 180CST 3.5S mazut oil (up 33.652 USD/ton, equivalent to an increase of 4.89%).
Domestically, the selling prices of popular consumer gasoline and oil items on the market on May 21 are as follows:
- E5RON92 gasoline: not higher than 24,340 VND/liter (an increase of 1,206 VND/liter compared to the current maximum selling price), lower than RON95-III gasoline by 1,209 VND/liter;
- RON95-III gasoline: not higher than 25,549 VND/liter (an increase of 1,471 VND/liter compared to the current maximum selling price);
- Diesel oil 0.05S: not higher than 28,761 VND/liter (an increase of 1,535 VND/liter compared to the current maximum selling price);
- 180CST 3.5S mazut oil: not higher than 21,483 VND/kg (an increase of 898 VND/kg compared to the current maximum selling price).
