At the end of the last trading session of the week, WTI oil price was at 101.94 USD/barrel, down 3.13 USD/barrel, equivalent to a decrease of 2.98%. Brent oil was at 108.17 USD/barrel, down 5.84 USD/barrel, equivalent to a decrease of 5.12%.
Oil prices fell sharply in the last trading session of the week after Iran made a proposal to negotiate with the US. However, oil prices remained on an upward trend during the week, as Tehran still blockaded the Strait of Hormuz and the US Navy prevented Iran's crude oil exports.
According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the world gasoline and oil market in the past week's operating period was affected by key factors such as: the United Arab Emirates (UAE) decided to leave OPEC and OPEC+; transportation through the Strait of Hormuz is still restricted; peace talks between the US and Iran have not made progress; military conflict between Russia and Ukraine is still taking place... The above factors have caused world finished gasoline and oil prices in recent days to increase and decrease depending on each item.
The average world finished petroleum product price between the price adjustment period on April 23, 2026 and the price adjustment period on April 29, 2026 is: 126.290 USD/barrel of RON92 gasoline used to blend E5RON92 gasoline (up 5.060 USD/barrel, equivalent to an increase of 4.17%); 131.718 USD/barrel of RON95 gasoline (up 5.283 USD/barrel, equivalent to an increase of 4.18%); 157.788 USD/barrel of 0.05S diesel oil (up 11.363 USD/barrel, equivalent to an increase of 7.76%); 670.078 USD/ton of 180CST 3.5S mazut oil (up 61.053 USD/ton, equivalent to an increase of 10.02%).
The selling prices of popular consumer gasoline and oil items on the market on May 2, 2026 are applied at the following level:
- E5RON92 gasoline: not higher than 22, 626 VND/liter, lower than RON95-III gasoline by 1,125 VND/liter;
- RON95-III gasoline: not higher than 23,751 VND/liter;
- Diesel oil 0.05S: not higher than 28,172 VND/liter;
- 180CST 3.5S fuel oil: not higher than 20,027 VND/kg.

- Regarding gasoline prices: Thailand: 34,613 VND/liter (Government subsidies); Cambodia: 33,859 VND/liter (Government subsidies); Laos: 45,616 VND/liter; China: 34,406 VND/liter (Government price control); Vietnam: 23,751 VND/liter.
- Regarding oil prices: Thailand: 32,779 VND/liter (Government subsidies); Cambodia: 37,146 VND/liter; Laos: 52,208 VND/liter; China: 31,313 VND/liter (Government price control); Vietnam: 28,172 VND/liter.
Thus, Vietnam's gasoline and oil prices are lower than neighboring countries.
