New enrollment regulations applied from 2026
Vietnam National University, Hanoi has just issued a new university admission regulation, applied from 2026, with many adjustments to increase transparency and ensure fairness in admission consideration.
In which there are some notable points as follows:
Maximum 5 admission methods (excluding direct admission), including: high school graduation exam scores; competency assessment exam organized by Vietnam National University, Hanoi; international certificates such as SAT, A-Level, ACT; and other combined methods.
The conversion of points between methods is clarified, and the total bonus points do not exceed 10% of the admission score scale, in order to limit the difference.
Admission conditions are tightened, especially for majors such as teacher training, health science, law. With methods that do not use high school graduation exam scores, candidates still have to meet academic requirements. Foreign language and international certificates used for admission consideration are only valid for 2 years.
The regulations also require training units to fully disclose enrollment information (admission methods, combinations, entrance scores, tuition fees...), and must maintain public disclosure for at least 4 years.
Notably, the regulations do not allocate separate quotas according to each admission method (except for direct admission), in order to ensure the selection of candidates with the most suitable abilities.
