In the 2025-2026 season, Dương Mịch continuously received good news when she was nominated for the Bạch Ngọc Lan Television Awards and the Bách Hoa Film Awards. This is considered the acting stage of the actress that received the most positive feedback in many years.
However, Duong Mich did not win. At the 31st Bach Ngoc Lan Awards, she lost to Duong Tu in the Best Leading Actress category. After that, the actress continued to stop at third place in the Best Supporting Actress vote at the 38th Bach Hoa Awards.
The opponent has a heavier role
The first reason Duong Mich missed the award is the quality and weight of her opponents.
At Bach Ngoc Lan, Duong Mich was nominated for the role of Ninh Tu Tu in "Sinh Van Vat". She accepted to tarnish her image, transforming into a rural woman who went through many upheavals. The role shows the progress and determination to leave the safe zone of the actress.
However, the winner is Duong Tu. Duong Tu's role has a complex psychological journey, placed in a realistic work. Besides Duong Tu, the nomination list also includes experienced actors such as Ton Le, Ngo Viet and Nham To Tich.
In that context, Duong Mich's progress is commendable but not enough to create a gap with opponents.
At Bach Hoa, Duong Mich was nominated for two roles in "Kinh Trap Vo Thanh" and "Vai Tien Truong An". Voting results at the awards ceremony showed that she received 24 votes, behind Ly Van Tieu with 27 votes and the winner Tat Nhat Na with 42 votes.
Tat Nhat Na is a veteran actress, with many years of experience and the ability to portray everyday characters. The 18-vote gap shows that her role received greater consensus from 101 audience delegates who directly voted.
Duong Mich portrays two contrasting images on the big screen. In "Kinh Trap Vo Thanh", she plays Bach Pham with an unpredictable inner self. In "Voi Tien Truong An", she transforms into Trinh Ngoc Dinh, gentle but strong.
Having two works recorded at the same time helps Duong Mich's nomination dossier become more prominent, but the number of roles does not determine the result. Each vote still depends on the level of completeness, persuasiveness and impression that the character leaves.
Relatively late redirection
Another reason comes from the acting image that Duong Mich has built for more than 20 years. She has been successful with many commercial, historical and idol films but also often faces debates about expressions, dialogue and how to choose scripts.
While some actors of the same generation soon tried their hand at the drama genre, Duong Mich only really promoted the transition process in recent years. Therefore, she needs more stable roles to completely change the long-standing perception.
Not winning the award does not mean that Duong Mich's efforts failed. The two major nominations show that experts and the public have somewhat recognized her change.
At the age of 39, Duong Mich still maintains high recognition and outstanding commercial value. What she lacks is not necessarily fame, but a role that is persuasive enough for the majority and becomes an undisputed milestone in her career.
