Vice Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee Nguyen Thuc Hien (Head of the City's Organizing Committee for Holidays and Anniversaries) has just signed and issued a Plan to organize activities to celebrate the Hung Kings' Commemoration Day in 2025; the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025) and the 139th anniversary of International Labor Day (May 1, 1886 - May 1, 2025).
The purpose of propagating the celebration of the country's great holiday is to educate the nation's historical, cultural and revolutionary traditions; honor the national cultural identity, affirm the great significance of the Hung Kings' Commemoration Day, an occasion for the people of Can Tho City to pay tribute to the Hung Kings; at the same time, consolidate and promote the great national unity bloc.
According to the plan, for the activities to celebrate the Hung Kings' Commemoration Day 2025, the incense offering ceremony at the Hung Kings Temple in Can Tho City is scheduled for April 7, 2025 (March 10, 2025 Lunar calendar). Cultural and sports activities in response include: releasing the Great Flag; contests in wrapping and cooking cakes, displaying banh tet and banh chung; organizing traditional wrestling performances; incense offering activities towards the Hung Kings' Commemoration Day in districts and towns in the area...
Activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South, National Reunification and the 139th anniversary of International Labor Day include: the Military-Civilian Tet Chol Chnam Thmay in 2025 (scheduled for April 28); the thematic book exhibition "The heroic song of Spring 1975"; the 125cc - 150cc National Motorcycle Racing Competition in 2025 (April 30); the Can Tho City Cross-Country Race in 2025 (in March); the Ky Yen Thuong Dien festival at Binh Thuy Communal House in 2025 (in May); the Phong Dien - Can Tho Eco-Tourism Festival in 2025 (in July)...
The Organizing Committee of the City's holidays and anniversaries assigned the Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism (DOC) - Standing Committee of the Organizing Committee - to proactively coordinate with specialized subcommittees, relevant departments, branches and organizations of the city to develop a detailed plan to organize and implement this plan; develop a scenario and advise on the management of the overall program of the Hung Kings' Commemoration Day in 2025.
Heads of specialized subcommittees and heads of relevant agencies and units shall, based on assigned tasks, prepare budget estimates and send them to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism for synthesis before January 2, 2025, through the Department of Finance for appraisal of the budget estimates, and submit them to the City People's Committee for consideration and approval according to regulations.
