    Vinh Phuc - People from Bich Dai and Dong Ve villages transformed into buffaloes and cows to plow during the New Year festival at Dai Dong temple.

    The straw buffalo and cow festival was held on January 4 in Dai Dong commune, Vinh Tuong district (Vinh Phuc) with many meaningful and unique activities attracting a large number of local people and tourists to visit.

    According to legend, the straw buffalo festival commemorates the merits of the general who defeated the An invaders during the reign of the sixth Hung King, Dinh Thien Tich. After defeating the An invaders, he returned to Bich Dai village to slaughter a buffalo to celebrate. The talented general taught the people here to farm, raise cattle, build houses, weave cloth, etc.
