Currently, the largest restaurant ship in Ha Long Bay can accommodate 400 - 500 guests. In addition to the restaurant ships currently operating in Ha Long Bay, a number of other luxury restaurant ships are being invested in and built.
In particular, the two very large ships can accommodate up to 800 guests; not including service staff and crew.
One of the ships is part of a restaurant shipbuilding project by a consortium of two companies: Ha Thanh Investment Development Company Limited and Hoang Phuong Trade and Tourism Joint Stock Company. According to the plan, this restaurant ship was expected to be put into use in 2021, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the progress had to be delayed.
By June 2024, the shipyard had completed the preliminary construction and connection of the tube body areas, hull blocks to the main deck. It is expected that by the end of 2025, the ship will be put into operation.
The second restaurant ship with a capacity of 600 - 800 guests is owned by Vu Gia Quang Ninh Company Limited. The investor also committed to put the ship into operation in December 2025.
According to the direction of Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee in Notice No. 1449-TB/TU dated July 25, 2019, for restaurant ships on Ha Long Bay, it is necessary to study this type of service with ship standards, service quality reaching 5-star standards, reaching class and operating along the shore, creating a highlight of the landscape and space along the shore of Ha Long Bay at night, increasing service revenue, ensuring quantity control, and at the same time preventing business monopoly.
Initially, there will be no more than 10 ships. Currently, there are 5 restaurant ships operating in Ha Long Bay. Restaurant ship service in Ha Long Bay is quite attractive to tourists, contributing to diversifying tourism products in Ha Long Bay, and gradually turning Quang Ninh tourism into 4-season tourism.
Restaurant boats mainly run along the coast of Ha Long City, from Tuan Chau to Ha Long International Passenger Port and along the coastal road from Ben Doan to near Hon Gai Beach area.
In addition to cuisine, some restaurant ships regularly organize music and art programs with guests being famous singers from home and abroad.
