Can Tho City ODA Project Management Board (project investor) just reported on August 24 on the construction status of Cai Khe lock. Accordingly, the project includes 3 sewer compartments (each 20m wide), 1 5m wide lock compartment and a project operator's house to operate the Scada system, the city's anti-flooding system.
In particular, the project also focuses on regional architecture when building landscape bridge arches combined with performing artistic lighting systems and water music; Embankment systems connected to sewers and 1 backup pumping station with capacity of 48m3/s; Particularly, the management house's campus and trees creating landscapes at the construction site are additional items.
According to the investor, besides the achieved results, the project is currently facing some difficulties and problems. Compensation support for households affected during the construction process is being paid by the contractor. According to the contractor's payment plan, compensation payments are expected to be completed by October 31, 2024, due to the large number of affected households.
At the inspection of the Cai Khe lock project and the city's anti-flooding system on August 24, Mr. Tran Viet Truong - Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee - requested the City ODA Project Management Board to re-evaluate all works. program under Project 3; together with construction contractors to complete the remaining stages of the lock system in the project, complete the operation of the sluice system, and ensure safety.
The Chairman of the City People's Committee also requested that the Committee advise the City People's Committee on completed construction projects in order to ensure legality for handover to the locality for management and exploitation.
Project 3 has a total investment of more than 9,167 billion VND, of which loan capital from the World Bank (WB) is 250 million USD, non-refundable capital from SECO (Switzerland) is 4 million USD and counterpart capital is more than 3,378 billion VND . Project 3 contributes to protecting the core area of about 2,675 hectares.
