Race ahead of schedule from 20 days to 1 month
On August 29, Lao Dong Newspaper reporters were present at the scene of Long Thanh airport in Binh Son commune, Long Thanh district, Dong Nai province.
After 1 year of construction, the shape of the airport has been revealed, the construction of the steel roof of the passenger terminal is being accelerated.
Mr. Nguyen Duc Thuan - Deputy Director in charge of the Executive Board of Hanoi Construction Corporation (Hancorp) said: "Package 5.10 - Long Thanh airport passenger terminal has completed the rough construction 20 days ahead of schedule. In the next phase, the joint venture of contractors, investors and supervision consultants are preparing for the finishing work, erection of steel structures and imported materials.
According to the schedule, the construction will be completed by the end of 2024, but we are trying to exceed the schedule by 20-30 days to ensure the fastest possible construction progress of the passenger terminal."
In addition, imported materials such as glass and corrugated iron roofs have been signed contracts and are being imported for installation.
According to Mr. Thuan, in this bid package, the two largest contractors in Vietnam are Dai Dung Steel Structure and ATAD Steel Structure to carry out the steel structure of the roof of Long Thanh airport's passenger terminal.
Steel structures are processed at the factory, applying the most advanced technology such as automatic welding, factory painting, quality control from the factory and installed for this project.
Regarding progress, Mr. Thuan said that with the help of the investor and supervising consultant, the construction went smoothly and any problems were resolved.

On the upcoming September 2nd holiday, construction is taking place regularly, site progress is guaranteed as usual.
Package 5.10 passenger terminal is considered the "heart" of Long Thanh airport
Package 5.10 - Construction of Long Thanh airport passenger terminal is considered the "heart" and critical progress path of Long Thanh airport phase 1.
Package No. 5.10 for construction and equipment installation of Long Thanh airport passenger terminal started on August 31, 2023.
According to Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV), package 5.10 includes construction items of the passenger terminal (central terminal and three wings), structure of 1 ground floor and 3 floors, total floor area of about 376,451m2, with a contract value of more than 36,005 billion VND.
Up to now, the passenger terminal has completed the entire reinforced concrete column and beam construction of the 1st floor (114,060/114,060 m2), 2nd floor (96,173/96,173 m2), 3rd floor (73,212/73,212 m2) and is implementing the reinforced concrete beam construction of the 4th floor, reaching 25,150/25,150 m2.
On August 22, the steel structure of wings 2 and 3 was installed according to the contract plan and schedule.
In parallel with the construction progress of the rough part, all the procurement and ordering of ME equipment, station equipment, HBS system, and facade glass walls have been implemented, signed contracts with suppliers and manufacturers, and are in the process of manufacturing and processing components according to the set schedule.
The expected progress is to complete the entire construction before December 2025, complete the facade installation before March 2026, in parallel with the completion and installation of test equipment from the beginning of 2026 and strive to complete all items before August 31, 2026.

Mr. Lai Xuan Thanh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV), said that the Long Thanh airport project phase 1 is expected to be completed and test run before August 31, 2026. By September 2, 2026, Long Thanh airport will welcome its first commercial flight.
