On May 3, according to information obtained by reporters, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Hue City sent a report to the City People's Committee, clarifying the situation of slow progress in reforestation and requesting to review the responsibilities of many related collectives and individuals.
According to the 2025 plan, the total area of replacement forest planting is 508.6 ha, including 27.1 ha of special-use forest; 271 ha of protection forest; 210.5 ha of production forest.
This area is assigned to management units, including: Bac Song Huong Protection Forest Management Board (201 ha), Nam Song Huong Protection Forest Management Board (134.5 ha), A Luoi Protection Forest Management Board (71 ha), Bac Hai Van Landscape Protection Area Management Board (10 ha), Sao La Nature Reserve Management Board (10 ha), Phong Dien Nature Reserve Management Board (17.1 ha) and Nam Hoa One Member State Limited Liability Forestry Company (65 ha).
However, by the time of reporting, the total planted area reached 223 ha/508.6 ha, equivalent to 43.85% of the plan by the end of 2026; especially the progress in 2025 reached 223 ha/448.6 ha, equivalent to 49.7%.
Notably, only two units completed on schedule: the Management Board of Bac Song Huong Protection Forest and the Management Board of Bac Hai Van Landscape Protection Area.
Many units are slow such as: Nam Song Huong Protection Forest Management Board only reached about 6 ha/134.5 ha; A Luoi Protection Forest Management Board reached 6 ha/71 ha. Some units such as Sao La Nature Reserve, Phong Dien and Nam Hoa One Member State Limited Liability Forestry Company have not completed the assigned volume.
According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Hue City, in addition to objective reasons such as unfavorable weather, complex terrain, and policy mechanism problems, there are still many subjective limitations such as slow planning, prolonged contractor selection, and lack of inspection and urging.
The Department has criticized relevant collectives and individuals; requested self-criticism, clarification of responsibilities and proposed that Hue City People's Committee direct rectification to ensure progress and quality of replacement forest planting.
