At noon on October 8, the Hang Xanh Traffic Police Team, under the Traffic Police Department of Ho Chi Minh City Police, set up a checkpoint to check and handle students violating the Road Traffic Law at the intersection of Pham Van Dong - National Highway 13 (Thu Duc City).
At around 11:30 a.m., the task force discovered T.N. wearing a school uniform and backpack, driving a motorbike over 50cc through the checkpoint, so they asked him to stop the vehicle for inspection.
Upon checking, the traffic police discovered that T.N did not have a driver’s license. T.N said that he was a 12th grade student at a high school in Go Vap district, and was on his way home after his morning class.
In addition, when working with the traffic police, the male student could not present relevant documents. "Normally, my parents take me to school, but today my parents are busy, so I go by motorbike. My house is about 5km from school. Is it okay to be fined like this? I am in 12th grade, I am afraid that a notice will be sent to the school, affecting my studies," T.N worried.
According to a traffic police officer in the working group, for this violation, T.N will be fined 500,000 VND and have his vehicle impounded for 7 days. At the same time, a notice will be sent to the school where the student is studying. In addition, the traffic police also fined T.N's parents for giving the vehicle to someone who is not qualified to drive.
In another case, the traffic police also discovered that B.M.T - a 10th grade student in Binh Thanh district - was driving a motorbike under 50cc without meeting the driving conditions.
"I came here from Dak Lak to study for more than a month and always use this car to go to school. I was a year late so I thought I was qualified to drive this car. Today I got fined, I will learn from my experience and wait until I am old enough to drive again," B.M.T shared.
For this violation, B.M.T will have his vehicle temporarily impounded and be warned. At the same time, the traffic police will also fine B.M.T's parents 1.4 million VND for giving the vehicle to someone who is not qualified to drive.
