According to Lieutenant Colonel Vu Dinh Nghi - Head of Muong Cha District Police, it is more than 30km from Muong Pon commune, Dien Bien district - where the flash flood occurred in the early morning of July 25 to the location where the body was found.
Due to the excessive amount of firewood, garbage, and rocks dumped in the lake bed area, making the search and approaching victims very difficult, members of the search and rescue team in the lake bed area had to You can't use a boat, you have to swim and search.
"From the time of discovery until 4:20 p.m. the same day, the victim's body could be brought ashore" - Lieutenant Colonel Vu Dinh Nghi said.
The victim was identified as Mr. LVP - a resident of Ban Muong Pon 1, Muong Pon commune, Dien Bien district. As soon as the victim's body was found, Muong Cha District Police invited the family and local authorities to identify it and take it back to organize a burial.
Previously, on the morning of July 27, authorities also found a body about 30km from the scene. The GTD victim, where his body was discovered, is also in the Long Tao Hydroelectric Power Plant area (bordering Muong Cha district and Tuan Giao district).
Thus, up to now, there are still 3 out of 5 missing people who have not been found. Dien Bien Provincial Police are continuing to coordinate with functional forces to urgently search and rescue efforts and mobilize forces and vehicles to participate in rescue and remediate consequences.
As Lao Dong reported, the rain and flash flood occurred on the night of July 24 and early morning of July 25, in Muong Pon commune, Dien Bien district, Dien Bien province, causing 2 deaths and 5 missing people.
The flash flood also swept away dozens of houses, many collapsed and about 100 others were damaged. In particular, about 50m of the road was eroded, the entire foundation was about 4-5m deep, causing Highway 12 to be paralyzed.
