On June 16, the People's Committee of Phu Quoc Special Zone (An Giang) coordinated with functional agencies to organize land recovery enforcement for cases that have not complied with the handover of land in Quarter 6 An Thoi and Quarter 7 An Thoi, Phu Quoc Special Zone, An Giang province.
Accordingly, the total area of land to be coercively recovered is 37,555 m2, belonging to 24 land plots, related to individuals in Quarter 6 An Thoi and Quarter 7 An Thoi. The coercion is carried out according to the decisions on coercive land recovery of the Chairman of Phu Quoc Special Zone People's Committee.
The recovered land area is to serve the Bai Dat Do Mixed-Use Urban Area project and the Ong Quan Mountain Eco-tourism Mixed-Use Urban Area project. These are two projects serving the APEC 2027 Conference.

Before organizing coercion, local authorities and functional forces have reviewed dossiers, organized propaganda, mobilization, and dialogue with related cases. However, some households and individuals have not yet agreed with the compensation and support plan and have not handed over the land.
To ensure security and safety for the coercion, An Giang Provincial Police and Phu Quoc Special Zone Police assigned forces to ensure security and order throughout the coercion process, in order to ensure that the coercion takes place in the correct order, in accordance with legal regulations, and is safe for people, participating forces and related assets.

The forced land acquisition by Phu Quoc Special Zone People's Committee aims to ensure the effectiveness of the land acquisition decisions issued, and at the same time remove obstacles in site clearance, creating conditions for the implementation of key projects serving the APEC 2027 Conference.
