The Ministry of Transport said that in recent times, rains and floods in Nghe An province have damaged road traffic infrastructure at the route from Km 264+300 - Km 264+900 on National Highway 16, Nghe An province, poses a direct threat to the safety of the lives of people and vehicles participating in road traffic.
The Vietnam Road Administration has reviewed and specifically identified damage to traffic infrastructure in the national highway system and issued an emergency construction order to overcome the consequences of natural disasters.
The Ministry of Transport assigns agencies and units according to their assigned functions and tasks to carry out natural disaster recovery activities according to the Ministry of Transport's regulations on preventing, combating and overcoming the consequences of natural disasters in the road sector. .

In particular, on the evening of July 14, heavy rain caused ground and road surface subsidence at Chuoi slope (section Km 264+700), Highway 16 passing through Chau Kim commune (Que Phong district, Nghe An).
The subsidence of the road lasted about 50m, with faults on both sides with a depth of about 20-35cm, making it difficult for vehicles to travel on this route.
Immediately after the incident occurred, Que Phong Road Management District coordinated with local authorities and district police to compensate for the road surface and arrange warning signs at the subsidence location.
At the same time, set up 2 checkpoints prohibiting large vehicles from circulating, including 1 point at Km 260+700 and 1 point at Km 270+100 on Highway 16.
It is known that Chuoi slope is about 3km long, has a steep slope, many sharp turns, especially section Km 264+700 is a place where landslides and slippages often occur.
