The accident occurred at around 6:00 a.m. on July 24 on National Highway 1, right at the slope of Can Tho bridge (on the bank of Vinh Long) in Cai Von ward (Vinh Long province).




At that time, driver Nguyen Ngoc D (born in 1998, Thanh Hoa province) was driving a truck with license plate 50H - 292.XX traveling from Vinh Long to Can Tho. Accompanying the vehicle was a bus conductor, Pham Nhu D (born in 2003, Thanh Hoa province).
The car driven by driver D was traveling on the slope of Can Tho bridge and collided with a truck with license plate 68E - 006.XX driven by driver Vo Tan L (born in 2001, Can Tho city) which was parked in lane 3 (next to the fixed median strip in the middle, suspected of having broken wheels).

The strong collision caused the cabin of the car driven by driver D to be deformed and severely damaged. Driver D and the bus assistant were both injured and were taken to the hospital for emergency treatment. Due to the serious injury, driver D died, and the bus assistant was seriously injured in the left leg.

As soon as the incident occurred, the Traffic Police of Vinh Long Province Police promptly arrived at the scene, coordinated with professional units to conduct the investigation steps, and at the same time arranged forces to direct traffic on National Highway 1 and the section passing through Can Tho Bridge, creating favorable conditions for vehicles to circulate, avoiding congestion.
According to the reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper, as of 10:00 a.m. the same day, the scene was still being investigated by the authorities.
The cause of the incident is currently being investigated.
