On October 21, the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of Binh Thuan province informed about the deployment of support for fishing boat BTh 97759 TS with a broken rudder shaft and anchored at sea.
Previously, on the morning of October 21, the wife of the owner and captain of fishing boat BTh 97759 TS came to the Border Guard Station of Phu Quy Port to report that fishing boat BTh 97759 TS, with a capacity of 500CV, fishing with 14 workers, was owned and captained by Mr. T.Q.Y (born in 1984, residing in Phu Quy island district). The fishing boat departed from Phu Quy port to exploit seafood in the Truong Sa archipelago on September 23. At dawn on October 21, while operating in an area about 5 nautical miles northeast of Shark Reef Island in Truong Sa archipelago, about 350 nautical miles east of Phu Quy island, the fishing boat BTh 97759 TS lost its rudder. The captain was unable to control the boat, so he anchored and asked for assistance from the authorities.

The weather in the area where fishing boat BTh 97759 TS is anchored has winds of level 3-4, waves from 0.5m to 1m high. The Standing Office of the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of Binh Thuan province requests that functional units notify the owners of boats of the province currently operating near the area where the fishing boat had an accident, have a plan to support and tow fishing boat BTh 97759 TS back to shore; so that ships and boats passing by the location of the fishing boat having an accident know, avoid collisions and collisions.
On the local side, the People's Committee of Phu Quy district mobilized local fishing boats and logistics service boats currently operating in the area, near the fishing boat in distress to support and tow it back to shore or to Phu Quy island for repairs.
