51,000 vehicles have not been inspected, Takata airbag inflators replaced
According to the National Competition Committee (Ministry of Industry and Trade), citing data from the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA), the Takata airbag recall program is one of the largest vehicle safety recall campaigns in the world.
In Vietnam, about 137,000 vehicles are affected. To date, more than 86,000 vehicles have been inspected and replaced with airbag inflators, reaching over 60%. Thus, there are currently about 51,000 vehicles that have not been inspected.
VAMA said that many countries have recorded accidents related to Takata airbag inflators. On affected vehicles, moisture can penetrate the airbag inflator over time. When airbags are activated in a collision, excessive pressure can cause the airbag inflator to crack, causing metal fragments that have pierced through the airbags to burst, posing a risk of serious injury to passengers.
Below is information on cars affected in Vietnam:

The National Competition Commission recommends that car owners promptly check vehicle information and contact the manufacturer or authorized dealer to be inspected and replaced the Takata airbag inflator for free. Timely repairs help ensure safety for users and accompanying passengers.
