On October 19, speaking with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Pham Cong Hung - Chairman of the People's Committee of My Thanh Commune, Yen Thanh District (Nghe An) - said that he had finished handling the case of a household illegally building on agricultural land.
“Mr. Nguyen Vinh Thoan’s household built a house with a corrugated iron roof and iron trusses on an area of 135 square meters (15mx9m) of agricultural land. After the local authorities invited him to work, Mr. Thoan committed to dismantling it himself and has completed it today,” said Mr. Pham Cong Hung, adding that because Mr. Thoan committed to remedy the consequences himself, the commune did not impose an administrative penalty.
Previously, as Lao Dong reported, Mr. Nguyen Vinh Thoan's household was reported to have built items for family activities on agricultural land and built a castle on 4 plots of land that were not combined.
"The people's reflection is well-founded, Mr. Nguyen Vinh Thoan's household has illegally built on agricultural land. The main house area of Mr. Thoan's house was built in accordance with regulations (all 4 plots of land are residential land under Mr. Thoan's right of use), however, this household has built ancillary works on agricultural land" - representative of Yen Thanh District People's Committee informed.
Yen Thanh District People's Committee assigned My Thanh Commune People's Committee to force Mr. Nguyen Vinh Thoan to dismantle the illegally constructed area, to be completed before October 15, 2024.
Mr. Nguyen Vinh Thoan is considered a tycoon in Yen Thanh district, starting from the scrap metal trading and purchasing business, so he is often called "the scrap metal tycoon".
In 2022, Mr. Thoan built "Thoan Binh Castle" in My Thanh commune, designed in French architecture, starting construction in February 2022, with a total investment of about 70 billion VND, standing out with gold-plated interiors, attracting the attention of many people.
