On August 18, according to information from Dr. Truong Thanh Man - Head of Obstetrics Department, Trieu Hai Regional General Hospital (Quang Tri province), doctors just performed endoscopic surgery and discovered 6 teeth inside an ovarian tumor.
Patient L.T. Q. A (32 years old, residing in Trieu Phong commune) was admitted to the hospital on August 17th due to abdominal pain. Examination results showed that the patient had a cyst in the ovary and was indicated for laparoscopic surgery.
During the dissection and removal of the tumor, the surgical team recorded that inside the tumor there was yellow fluid and many abnormal components such as hair, skin, bone and 6 teeth.
Dr. Man said that the patient was diagnosed with ovarian dermal cyst, also known as teratoma. This is a type of tumor that can contain many different types of tissue, including hair, hair, nails, bones, cartilage or teeth.
According to the doctor, the cause is that primitive germ cells in the ovaries develop in an abnormal direction, thereby forming different tissues inside the tumor.
After surgery, the patient was awake, his health was stable and he is continuing to be monitored and cared for at the hospital.
