On December 14, the Criminal Police Department of Ho Chi Minh City Police coordinated with Go Vap District Police to search for a 33-year-old man to assist in the investigation of the murder of a 19-year-old girl in a rented room in an alley on Nguyen Van Khoi Street (Go Vap District).
Data extracted from the security camera of the boarding house shows that before the female student's body was discovered, on the afternoon of December 13, Nguyen Hoang Anh - the victim's brother-in-law - came here. He walked to the boarding house and left with the victim's scooter.
Instead of driving the victim’s scooter straight to Vinh Long, the suspect parked the scooter at a shopping mall a few kilometers away from the scene. He then took a bus to Vinh Long province and rented a motel in Tra On district, where he hanged himself.
Ho Chi Minh City police are coordinating with local authorities to investigate according to procedure.
According to the victim’s family, Nguyen Hoang Anh married the victim’s older sister nearly 3 years ago. Previously, Hoang Anh and his wife rented a room in this boarding house, and since last year, the victim passed the university entrance exam and has been living with her brother and sister.
When the older sister gave birth, the couple moved back to their hometown in Tra Vinh, leaving only the younger sister behind. The victim was afraid of being alone, so she invited a female relative to stay with her.
The brother-in-law, who works as a driver, left home more than a week ago and has been out of contact. Hoang Anh and his wife have not had any recent conflicts.
As reported by Lao Dong, the incident occurred at around 6:00 p.m. on December 13 at the 78/3/10 boarding house on Nguyen Van Khoi Street, Go Vap District. People discovered the girl's body in the boarding house and immediately reported it to the authorities.
Through investigation, the police identified the victim as Ms. D.T.N.H (19 years old, from Tra Vinh) who was suspected of being murdered by her brother-in-law, Nguyen Hoang Anh. After committing the crime, the suspect used the victim's motorbike to leave the scene. The police organized a manhunt overnight.
