On December 25, the Department of Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention of Quang Nam Provincial Police said that it had coordinated with professional units of the Ministry of Public Security, Tam Ky City Police, and Thang Binh District Police, Quang Nam to eradicate a gambling ring via social networks, in the form of lottery tickets, with a scale of more than 50 billion VND.

The police have detained 8 suspects, including Phan Thi Thu Ha (born in 1978, residing in Tam Ngoc commune, Tam Ky city) as the leader of the gambling ring, Nguyen Luong Tri, Tran Thi Phuong, Tran Thi Ly, Vo Kim Tuan, Huynh Thi Thuong, Nguyen Thi Be, Pham Thi Nhan (all residing in Tam Ky city, Quang Nam province) to investigate gambling.
Previously, through the work of grasping the situation, the Provincial Police discovered a number of subjects using cyberspace to organize gambling and gambling in the form of lottery tickets for many people in Tam Ky City and neighboring districts. The subjects used social networks, junk SIM cards to receive lottery tickets, used bank accounts that were not their own to receive gambling money transfers... in order to avoid the authorities.

Initial investigation results determined that from June 2024 to December 15, 2024, the transaction amount of the subjects in the network amounted to more than 50 billion VND.
The police seized 19 mobile phones, 46 million VND, more than 2,000 pages of transaction documents and many related objects and documents... The case is under further investigation.
